Cryotherapy is a cold treatment method. Liquid nitrogen is the cooling factor in our facilities. The treatment consists in locally lowering the tissue temperature with cold nitrogen vapor cooled to -140 ° C, which results in:
- pain reduction or relief
- inhibition of inflammation
- slowing down of metabolic processes
- reduction or remission of swelling
- increasing the range of motion within the treated joints
- slowing down reflexes and reducing the excitability of nerve fibers
- vasoconstriction and their periodic expansion, active congestion
- increasing muscle tone (with a short duration of the stimulus) or lowering muscle tone (with a longer stimulus).
Cryostimulation, improving the clinical and functional condition of patients, contributes to the reduction of rehabilitation time and accelerates recovery.
INDICATIONS
- rheumatic and degenerative diseases: degenerative changes in joints, primary progressive rheumatism (GPP), ankylosing spondylitis (AS) in the initial stage, osteoporosis, Bechterow's disease, Scheuermann's disease, etc.
- conditions after injuries: fractures and contusions (fresh trauma, delayed bone union, delays in the application of endoprostheses, pseudo-joint)
- increased muscle tension (spasticity)
- rehabilitation after surgical procedures, e.g. after knee arthroplasty or arthroscopy
- neuralgia, pain syndromes (sciatica, lumbago, etc.)
- diseases of muscles, ligaments, sprains
- swelling, overweight and obesity (cryostimulation accelerates cell metabolism)
- cosmetic applications, e.g. cellulitis
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- hypersensitivity to cold
- Raynaud's syndrome
- inflammation of the urinary bladder and renal pelvis
- vasculitis
- severe diseases of the heart and vessels
- states of cachexia and general weakness
- frostbite
